石井晴 × Emerald Elephan
The stronger you are, the more honest your body becomes.

Athletes talk about how they deal with their bodies

The more you pursue competitiveness, the more

The body quietly wears out.

What can the treatment support that

Difference from the Thai style I had imagined

Miwa.
First of all, I would like to ask you frankly,
How did you honestly feel after a few treatments?
Dr. Haru Ishii
I had an image of Thai traditional style as acrobatic stretching.
To the point where you can't reach by self-stretching.
I was curious to see how far we could approach this.

I usually get massages, though,
When pushed at a timing that did not match my breathing, it honestly felt painful at times.

Here, I was able to get stretching and acupressure in time with my breathing, which was very relaxing.

Physical changes immediately after the treatment, a few days later, and a week later

Miwa.
Did you notice any physical changes from immediately after the treatment to a few days to a week later?
Dr. Haru Ishii
It was just a week ago that I had the procedure,
I was able to sleep soundly for 7 hours each night.
Even on days when I wasn't tired from practice, the quality of my sleep was good.

In jujutsu, the parasympathetic nervous system is dominant on the day of treatment,
There was a sensation that it was a little difficult to apply force.

Just two days later.
Even though I was tired from a morning of continuous instruction,
I was very physically active during the evening practice.

How did it affect competition performance?

Miwa.
Looking at it as an athlete, where do you feel this treatment is most effective?
Dr. Haru Ishii
In the jiu-jitsu guard position, I had the sensation that my legs reacted and recovered before I was aware of it.

The increased range of motion of the hip joints has allowed them to shape smoothly and without strain.

In Brazilian jiu-jitsu, the range of motion is directly related to the reproducibility of the technique.

If "pain" or "stiffness" becomes a brake, the options of techniques that can be done are reduced.
I feel that is a great waste of time.

Who would you recommend? / "Who is not a good fit"?

Miwa.
Who would you recommend this treatment to?
Conversely, if there is a type that you feel might be a little difficult to fit for this type of person, please let us know.
Dr. Haru Ishii
First of all, regardless of whether you exercise or not, this treatment is a great fit for those who want to "properly prepare their bodies" and use them for a long time.

The body tends to stiffen unknowingly the more a person is not in the habit of exercising, but once blood flow is regulated after treatment, breathing and joint movement become remarkably smooth.
When the body becomes lighter, it naturally feels like "I should move a little.
I felt that such a positive change was easy to achieve with this treatment.

Dr. Haru Ishii
On the other hand,
I don't want to move at all, I just want to be rubbed and laid down."
I want it all fixed in one session."
The image may be a little different for those who seek only the immediate effect of
I believe that this treatment does not end with just feeling good in the moment, but rather we work together to figure out how to maintain and establish the improved state.

I think this treatment is very valuable for those who enjoy "the time to face one's own body" including the process.

Miwa.
I agree with you.
We feel that the more people who are interested in "a sense of nurturing the body," including self-care, rather than ending with just treatment, the easier it is for change and retention to occur.

The concept of periodic conditioning

Dr. Haru Ishii
If you only adjust your body before a game, or only occasionally, you will be practicing with a hardened body on a daily basis.

It is difficult to perform at your best when the game is on the line, even if you are suddenly ready.
Because they are able to practice in "good condition" on a regular basis, they are able to show their strength in the performance.

Regular maintenance is worth building on that foundation.

Miwa.
It would be ideal to practice regularly for 5 days to 2 weeks, or even a month before the competition, while preparing your body, and then take the time after the competition to relieve your overworked body and tensions.

Preparing the body, and beyond

Miwa.
Thank you for your candid talk today.
I was reminded that the body is the foundation for both competitive performance and lifelong exercise.
We would be happy if our treatment is not only a place to "prepare" the body, but also a time to nurture it.

A moment after the treatment.
The dialogue was conducted in a calm atmosphere from start to finish.

editorial postscript

I felt again through the dialogue,
Dr. Haru's "strength" was not something that consisted only of technical or physical skills.

With a sincere commitment to daily training and instruction,

Listening carefully to the changes in one's own body,
It incorporates necessary maintenance as a very natural part of the process.

It is not a special awareness,
The obvious choice to stay strongI think it is.

As a competitor and as a leader,
Attitude to continue to use the body for a long time to come.
The way it is itself,
I felt that Dr. Haru's strength was quietly and certainly supported.
